                                   Man-in-the-Middle Attack

Is an attack where the attacker secretly relays and possibly alters the communication between two parties who believe they are directly communicating with each other. Man-in-the-middle attacks can be thought about through a chess analogy. Mallory, who barely knows how to play chess, claims that she can play two grandmasters simultaneously and either win one game or draw both.

  1. Hi Shaikha the photo really say it all, but I did not understand the chess part, if you could elaborate more on it.

    1. Sure M,
She waits for the first grandmaster to make a move and then makes this same move against the second grandmaster. When the second grandmaster responds, Mallory makes the same play against the first. She plays the entire game this way and cannot lose.

Will If am an attacker I would let start the conversation and replay like if I was the other party, Without you knowing my true intention.

  3. Reading about Man-in-The-Middle attack fascinates me and I understand more about this attack by looking at the photo and I understand that in this attack, attackers place themselves between the victim computer and another host computer. They can then intercept messages sent from the victim to the host and pretend to be the host computer.
    Well done

  4. You choose a very interesting attack, that is becoming very common. And using the chess example is very smart. People should be aware of this attack anyone can intercept send and receive data that is meant for someone else.
    Great Job ;)
